How to use and what to expect

You’re just 2 minutes away from looking like yourself again and getting your confidence back. It might take a little experimenting to get the effect you’re looking for, and that’s completely normal. Within a few tries you’ll have it down. Watch the application video, then read below for tips on getting the best results.

Never used hair texture powder before?

Texture powder coats individual hair strands to make them thicker while adding friction between them for more lift, volume, and hold. Your hair will feel thicker and a little rougher to the touch as a result, and that’s exactly how it’s supposed to feel (it’s doing its job). If you’ve used hair fibers before, expect a very different feel, since unlike fibers, Mop Maker is also a styling product. If you feel your hair is too stiff for your liking, apply a bit of pomade afterward and work it in with your fingers.

Directions

  1. Start with clean, dry hair. Mop Maker works best on hair that’s at least two inches long.
  2. Sprinkle a small amount of Mop Maker on your sparse areas and work it in with your fingers. Add more where you want extra volume and coverage, until you get the look you want.
  3. (Optional) Comb it through if you need to. A texture comb with 3 or 4 chunky teeth spreads it evenly without pulling it back out.
  4. Style as usual. For a slightly softer feel, finish with a small amount of pomade or cream, applied after Mop Maker. Either way, fingers work best for shaping it.
  5. If needed, dampen the included removal wipe and clean any excess powder from your skin or sink.
  6. Greet the day and take on the world.

Good to know

  • One application lasts one day. If you go to bed with Mop Maker still in your hair, it may look streaky or uneven in the morning. Shampoo it out before reapplying.
  • Mop Maker is water resistant and holds up to a little sweat or a light drizzle, but swimming or a downpour may wash some of it out. Wet wipes and water may not fully remove it from your hair or scalp, so use shampoo for a thorough clean.
  • Want to cover more scalp? Apply a larger amount and work it through your hair strands without touching your scalp directly.
  • Hair longer than 7 inches? Over-applying may create tangles, so use small amounts and focus on your roots, crown and part lines, the areas where your scalp shows through.
  • Dampen the included removal wipe to clear any powder off your skin or sink.
  • Wearing a white shirt? Drape a towel over your shoulders while you apply it. Mop Maker is stain free but white shirts may require a washing if any powder gets on it.
